Central Queensland meet and greet trip

Lyn Macklin (TCF Secretary) and husband Graham (retiring committee member) recently undertook a ‘meet and greet’ trip to visit some of our country chapters in Central Queensland. All members who they met were very welcoming and pleased to see them.

Each contact was encouraged to visit our new website and to submit news items about their area.

Facilitators were very keen to engage in training to help them in their role as facilitator. All agreed that they would like more than anything to have the opportunity to chat to other facilitators to see how they run their meetings and would be keen to travel to Brisbane if necessary for training. The committee agreed to seek a government grant to cover the cost of bringing facilitators from the regional areas to Brisbane at the time of our Annual Seminar and arrange a Workshop for the same weekend.

Everyone Lyn & Graham spoke to was interested in Emotional Freedom Tapping and were all given a booklet which was prepared by Sue Voss especially for TCF. It would seem that a lot of people are showing an interest in alternative ways to help in dealing with grief rather than resorting to medication.

After having met with all of our contacts in this area, Lyn and Graham believe that each and every one of them is active in promoting TCF, the larger centres in quite a big way, especially Mackay and Rockhampton. The smaller towns don’t meet on a monthly basis but have more informal meetings less often.

Groups were advised that we would welcome suggestions on how fundraising money should be spent.

This trip has given us a great opportunity to listen to what our members are saying and to be able to represent them at the committee meetings with their suggestions.
