2015 Walk to Remember

2015 Walk to Remember

We had perfect weather again for our annual walk. Vera Caltabiano, TCF President, thanked our special guest Vicki Howard, Councillor for Central Ward, for coming along to support us once again. A couple of poems were read before we all assembled for our walk around the park.

Once again families came along from young to old, some in pushers and wheelchairs, and even on crutches, to honour our beloved children who left us too soon.

Like last year we also had a piper lead us on our walk and many families enjoying the park stood by the side of the road and watched as we went by.

Once the walk finished the piper lead us down to the river where another poem was read by Lyn Macklin before roses and rose petals were distributed to throw in the water in memory of our children.

Following this we all enjoyed a sausage sizzle in the park while we mingled with each other, sharing our stories, some quite recent and others many years along.

It all added to the knowing that with support from The Compassionate Friends we need never walk alone.
