Guest Speaker Trish Wilson, — RN, BCouns, GHDSts (Loss & Grief)
Trish is a nurse and midwife with qualifications in counselling and loss and grief studies. She worked for many years in the counselling team at the Wesley Hospital, which included supporting patients and families who were dealing with wellness, adversity and facing death. This included in-hospital care as well as supporting families through the Wesley’s Bereavement Support Program.
Trish completed her studies and went on to lecture in the Loss & Grief program at the University of Qld. More recently Trish has been in private practice as a grief counselor, with much of her work focusing on supporting families who are faced with the death of a child. She currently co-ordinates the Bereavement Support Program at the Mater Mothers Hospital.
This year our Seminar program will run the same as the previous year having taken into account members’ feedback on the evaluation forms from past seminars.
Members noted the day was previously too long and the majority of people leave after lunch. We have therefore shortened the day by only having workshops in the morning and leaving the time between lunch and 2.00pm open for people to mix and speak with other bereaved parents, followed by our closing ceremony between 2.00 -2.30pm.
The Seminar begins with our guest speaker followed by morning tea and workshops.
Our previous seminars have been very well received and feedback from those attending has been very positive.
Please consider attending to hear our guest speaker and join the work-shops on offer, plus the opportunity of speaking with other bereaved parents during the break.
Bookings essential – please RSVP as soon as possible and definitely by 31st May to the Drop in Centre for catering purposes and workshop numbers would be greatly appreciated.
