Candlelight rememberance service 2011

Posted: 12 December, 2011

There are some things that just cannot be fully understood unless you have experienced them: The death of a child is one such experience. But sharing that experience of loss is one way many parents deal with its emotional trauma.

In what has become a worldwide rite, on Sunday 11 December, bereaved parents joined together for a candle lighting service to share their loss in a poignant yet healing ceremony.

This year Worldwide Candle Lighting celebrates 15 years of honouring and remembering all children gone far too soon.

This year the service was held at a new venue, the Uniting Church in New Farm, and all agreed it was a very fitting venue, with a very intimate atmosphere for such an occasion, as bereaved parents, siblings and families met to honour their loved ones.

After the service supper was served in the adjoining courtyard. A raffle was held with all proceeds going towards the running of TCF Queensland. Thank you to the many sponsors for their generous donations.

Cairns group Christmas lunch

Posted: 09 December, 2011

The TCF Cairns group wish our Brisbane Mum’s a very Merry Christmas and a healing and gentle new year. This is a very hard time for many of us and it is nice to go out and feel “safe” amongst friends.

Although we do not have meetings "officially" we do get together. 5 of us were able to attend. We had a Chinese lunch ( cheap and cheerful) and had a Kris Kringle pressie swap - which was fun and we all did very well out of it – I certainly felt spoilt!

Lesleigh was kind enough to bead us all some beautiful decorations for our trees.
