Annual Grief & Loss Seminar

Held each year in June, this Seminar is open to all TCF members and families. 

The program has a guest speaker in the morning, with workshops after morning tea.

After lunch there is opportunity for bereaved parents to meet and share with one another, followed by a brief closing ceremony.

“Grief” Beneath the Public Mask – Guest Speaker Trish Wilson - RN, BCouns, GHDSts (Loss & Grief)
Trish is a nurse and midwife with qualifications in counselling and loss and grief studies.  She worked for many years in the counselling team at the Wesley Hospital, which included supporting patients and families who were dealing with wellness, adversity and facing death.  This included in-hospital care as well as supporting families through the Wesley’s Bereavement Support  Program.  Trish completed her studies and went on to lecture in the Loss & Grief program at the University of Qld.  More recently she has been in private practice as a grief counselor, with much of her work focusing on supporting families who are faced with the death of a child.  She currently co-ordinates the Bereavement Support Program at the Mater Mothers Hospital.

Climbing Mountains - Guest Speaker Liz Crowe
Liz graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from James Cook University in 1992.  Liz has worked extensively in grief, loss, trauma, crisis and bereavement since 1993 specialising in areas of children and families within tertiary paediatric hospitals from 1995. Liz also works in private practice doing conferences, workshops and counselling on these topics around Australia and internationally. Liz is currently employed part time as a Social Worker in the Brisbane Mater Children’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and is the Workforce Development Officer for Allied Health at the Queensland Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Brisbane
